Backstage Tour Docent – Volunteer Position
The Canadian Opera Company (COC) is now accepting applications for the volunteer position of Tour Docent. We are looking for outgoing individuals who are interested in giving public and private tours of the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. Public tours take place most Sundays at 10:30 a.m. and private tours may be booked on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. or Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m. These 90-minute tours provide in-depth information about the architecture of the building, and the history of the COC and the National Ballet of Canada.
Reporting to the Tour Coordinator, Docents must be able to follow a script, speak loudly and clearly to groups of up to 25 patrons, and do their best to answer questions.
Volunteer shifts are generally three hours in duration. Schedule commitments can be flexible, but one shift per month is average.
