COC Academy Volunteer Opportunity
The Canadian Opera Company Academy, which includes the COC Ensemble Studio and Orchestra Academy, is a first-of-its-kind, comprehensive post-graduate training unit for opera professionals in Canada. It aims to foster a vibrant community of Canadian artists and creative professionals–from singers to instrumentalists to administrators – and provide participants with the skills, experiences, and resources to thrive in a global opera environment.
The COC is looking for a motivated volunteer to research and compile the activities of the Academy, particularly the Ensemble Studio, during the 2019 season, as well as gain knowledge and experience of the inner workings of a large arts organization. The selected candidate will receive tickets to the opera dress rehearsals in the 2019 season.
This position will involve a variety of tasks and responsibilities, including:
- Compiling data about coachings and training sessions
- Researching and documenting awards achieved by Ensemble Studio members
- Meeting regularly with the Access and Training department
- Attending opera-related events
- Developing spreadsheets to record data
- Viewing select rehearsals
- Other creative and administrative support
This volunteer position is suited to a post-secondary student who possesses knowledge of opera, works well independently as well as in a team environment, is proficient in Excel, and is interested and passionate about operatic training. (Please note this volunteer position has a limited number of hours.)
This is a volunteer position, but the selected candidate will receive tickets to opera dress rehearsals in the 2019 season, as well as access to the Toronto Attractions Council Reciprocal Agreement program.
Submissions will be accepted until January, 14 2019 at 10 a.m.
The COC thanks all applicants in advance. Only those considered for an interview will be contacted. No telephone calls please.
