LIVING OPERA

An afternoon workshop, Living Opera provides a half day with opera professionals to provide secondary students viable access points to independently and actively engage in that's evening's performance.

Workshop content is geared to the artistic and production elements in opera they will be seeing. Topics may include choral singing, staging techniques, special effects, or historical context.

Rusalka: October 16, 18, 22 & 24, 2019
The Barber of Seville: January 22, 30, February 4 & 7, 2020
Hansel & Gretel: February 11, 19 & 21, 2020
Aida: April 22, 30, May 5 & 8, 2020
The Flying Dutchman: May 6, 12 & 14, 2020

Duration: Three hours
Availability: Select afternoons in the fall, winter and spring terms
Location: Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, 145 Queen St. W.
Fee: $30/student (workshop + opera, if ordered at the same time), $22/teacher

IN-SCHOOL RESIDENCIES

In consultation with a dedicated classroom teacher, we will aim to create a program suited to your curricular goals and student population. Opportunities to connect with mainstage opera, artists in the classroom, and intensive performance experiences are all a part of the collaboration between the COC and our partner schools.

The 2019/2020 programs are currently in preparation. We may be able to accommodate additional schools with strategies and resources in mind. for paid programs. Otherwise, applications for the 2020/2021 season will be available in March 2020.
