Whether you're new to opera and curious to try something new, or you're an opera expert and want to find like-minded enthusiasts, the COC has something for you!
Have you ever wondered how an opera singer prepares for their performance or who makes a production's elaborate costumes and sets? Have you ever wanted to know what it feels like to sing in the chorus? The COC's free Opera Insights series provides a behind-the-scenes look into all things opera. Situated in the Four Season's Centre's Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre or Education Centre, these intimate events allow you to experience the grandeur of the stage up close. During the week, you can see free concerts and performances ranging from contemporary dance to jazz trios as part of the Free Concert Series in the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre.
If you want to learn about a particular opera, there are free lectures as part of the Opera Talks series hosted by musicologist Wayne Gooding, at your local Toronto Public Library branch as well as pre-performance opera chats given by some of Canada's leading musicologists and educators.
Stay tuned! Our pop-up concerts take place around Toronto as part of our Opera Connect initiative. If you see us, come say hi and enjoy the show!
